Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgery wherein a tiny instrument called a “Laparoscope”, with a light source and camera attached to it, is inserted into the abdominal region through a small incision. Through the camera, the surgeon is able to view the internal organs in the pelvic and abdominal areas such as the ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, etc to determine the causes of infertility, pelvic and/or abdominal pain, discover abnormalities such as fibroids, cysts or endometriosis and also, perform surgery.

The incision is commonly made in the navel area and general anesthesia is used. Furthermore, the entire process is recorded in a digital format for future reference.
